Portimonense: end of the road?

Following the early departure of Takuma Nishimura, first choice goalkeeper Shuichi Gonda looks set to follow his countryman back to Japan – the 31-year-old, who has a contract until June 2022, is wanted by several of his home clubs.

The pair could be followed out of the door by several loan signings, namely Marlos Moreno (Manchester City), Romulo, Rodrigo, Junior Tavares (all Brazil) as well as Mohanad Ali and Mensah (Al Duhail), as the season appears unlikely to be concluded by the time their agreements expire in two months’ time.

Meanwhile, lone striker Jackson Martinez, suffering from a chronic ankle injury, is considering hanging up his boots sooner rather than later as Portimonense SAD president Rodiney Sampaio expressed worries that more and more smaller clubs faced financial difficulties during the current crisis.
