Porto council security guards protest over possible job losses

Security guards working for Porto City Council have been demonstrating today outside City hall due to fears that many of them face the sack. The situation follows the winning of a public tender (to provide security) of a company that reportedly refuses to employ the existing security guard workforce. Porto City Council says it is “trying to resolve the problem”. SIC Notícias suggests 100 jobs are at risk.
