A European Commission (EC) report has identified Portugal as one of 14 member-states that are at risk of failing to meet their 50% municipal waste recycling target by 2020.
Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Malta, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Spain are the other countries that are likely to fail to reach their targets.
Thus, the EC will be presenting proposals to help these countries abide by European legislation in terms of waste management.
