Alerta provides up-to-date information during wildfire events
Portugal Charity Networking held its April Charity Networking Coffee Morning at Kit & Caboodle in Alcantarilha on April 30, bringing together an inspiring group of volunteers, charity workers, and community-focused individuals from across the Algarve.
Over coffee, cake, and lively conversation, attendees shared their causes, exchanged ideas, and formed valuable new connections within the local charitable community.
Guest speaker Debbie Burton BEM, founder of Alerta – Associação Alerta de Incêndio Florestal, gave a powerful and deeply informative presentation about the group’s mission and growing impact in the Algarve.
Debbie spoke about Alerta’s evolution, now a trusted source of real-time fire information, relied upon by thousands of residents and visitors alike. The organisation works tirelessly to post verified updates during wildfire events, helping to keep the public informed, reduce panic, and support the operational efforts of the Bombeiros.
A big thank you to Philippa Rowat of Kit & Caboodle for generously providing the coffee and cakes free of charge. Thanks to her support, the €5 entry fees were donated, along with proceeds from the raffle, directly to Alerta.
