Hotels are full-up for the New Year in various parts of the country – though not in the Algarve.
In Serra da Estrela, more than 15,000 tourists are expected with almost “no room left” in any of the area’s hotels and guesthouses – while in Madeira occupancy this New Year’s has been registered at 90%, with five-star hotels recording 99%.
Ten cruise ships are also expected in Madeira to enjoy the island’s legendary fireworks display.
