Year-on-year, the country registered the fourth largest increase (5.1%)
In December 2024, Portugal’s construction sector enjoyed the third highest output in terms of projects in the European Union with a month-on-month (MoM) increase of 3.6% while year-on-year (YoY) it had the fourth largest increase (5.1%) out of all the 27 EU countries.
According to the EU’s statistical office Eurostat, construction output remained stable in the Eurozone and grew 0.4% in the EU in December compared to the previous month, with Portugal showing the third highest increase in the monthly comparison ( 3.6%), according to an estimate released last week.
Among the countries for which data is available, production in construction had the largest MoM increases in Poland (5.7%), Czech Republic (4.6%) and Portugal (3.6%). Bulgaria (3.4%), the Netherlands (2.0%) and Italy (1.7%) suffered the largest monthly decreases.
In the YoY comparison, the indicator fell by 0.1% in the single currency area and 0.8% in all 27 member states of the EU bloc, according to the European statistical service.
In this case, construction production had the largest increases in Spain (11.2%), Czech Republic (9.7%), Slovakia (5.8%) and Portugal (5.1%), while the most representative year-on-year falls were observed in Romania ( 12.9%), Poland ( 9.9%) and Austria ( 9.3%).
