Faster, cleaner and more intuitive, the site offers readers a more dynamic and contemporary news experience
The Portugal Resident launched a new website last week. Featuring a contemporary design allied to modern technology, the new site has been developed to be more user-friendly and intuitive.
To develop the new website, Open Media worked closely with Dengun, a Faro-based digital agency whose brief was to create a new website from scratch with a fresh design while maintaining the essence of the Portugal Resident.
Miguel Fernandes, CEO of Dengun, states: “We’re thrilled to have partnered with Portugal Resident to launch their new website. This is a fantastic opportunity to leverage our expertise in digital transformation and bring a fresh, dynamic experience to one of the most trusted sources of information for the international community in the Algarve. This project is a testament to our commitment to innovation and our passion for supporting local brands with scalable, user-centred solutions.”
The website was optimised using the latest technology to improve readers’ overall experience by making it more modern, fluid, and user-friendly. Aesthetically, it offers readers a more modern news service with a cleaner, fresher feel and a contemporary, elegant look. The site is bright and well-organised. Sections are clearly identified, and quality images illustrate the latest news in the Algarve and Portugal.
With this redesign, the site’s navigation is also much faster. The site was optimised to be more functional, offering a more fluid and practical navigation.
With this redesign, the site’s navigation is also much faster. “The site was optimised to be more functional, offering a more fluid and practical navigation. It was designed to guarantee consistent and intuitive navigation across all devices – desktop, tablet and mobile”, explains Renata Ferreira, the Dengun project manager who worked closely with the newspaper’s team to guarantee the new website was thoroughly modernised yet still reflected its core values.
From a technological perspective, the site has been improved to provide faster navigation and enhanced fluidity. “It is also more user-friendly; readers will find that they can locate sections more swiftly. Furthermore, it is particularly beneficial for the journalists who work daily in the site’s back office,” she pointed out.
Open Media CEO and publisher of the Portugal Resident, Bruce Hawker sees the new website as an integral part of the company’s future plans: “The Portugal Resident website is a vitally important source of news for the international community, and our team of journalists have become recognised for reporting on all aspects of national news that are relevant to those who either live here already or are in other countries around the world.
“Working with Dengun in Faro to develop this new website was a logical step for us, representing a significant investment,” said Bruce. “As the leading tech company in the Algarve with clients all over the world, they are uniquely positioned to help us on our journey to take our digital presence to new heights.”
