Portugal to contribute to Global Alliance against Hunger

Portugal will contribute US$300,000 a year to the new Global Alliance against Hunger and Poverty, launched today by president Lula da Silva of Brazil at the G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro. Prime minister, LuĂ­s Montenegro, at the summit, made the announcement saying: “Our commitment is firm, as will be our investment. Portugal will contribute around 10% of the cost of running the Alliance Support mechanism, US$300,000 (around €284,000), at least until 2030.”
