Portugal to take “some of migrants” from Ocean Viking

Portugal has guaranteed today that it will take in “some of the 234 migrants” from the humanitarian ship Ocean Viking that finally made port in Toulon, southern France today, after a three-week stand-off seeking entry into Italy. In making the pledge, foreign affairs minister João Gomes Cravinho made no reference to Italy’s reluctance to accept the boat. France however has said it will be imposing sanctions against Italy, sparking a further diplomatic row.
