Portugal “would be almost perfect” if it had Swiss organisation…

Former Portuguese prime minister, former European Commission president and former many other positions, Durão Barroso – currently executive president of GAVI (the global vaccine alliance) and president of the Council of the Portuguese Diaspora – has been telling a new podcast, Luso-Lab – designed to focus on ‘stories of Portuguese talent across borders’ – that Portugal would be an almost perfect country if it had ‘Swiss organisation’. Mr Barroso may have been thinking of the description of ‘heaven’ – a place where the cooks are French, the police are British, the mechanics are German, the lovers are Italian and everything is organized by the Swiss. (Hell conversely is described as a place where the cooks are British, the police are American, the mechanics are French, the lovers are Swiss, and everything is organized by the Italians.) Either way, the Portuguese don’t seem to get a mention.
