Since their traditional Christmas Bolo Rei was voted Portugal’s best, a husband and wife bakery in Valpaços has its sales ‘multiply’, with around 100 of the delicious confections being made every day. Now Célia and Ivo (the ‘dream team’) have decided they will make Bolo Rei all through the year. Their secret? Well, according to reports, only Ivo really knows it: it is to do with the alcohol that goes into the dough.
