GNR police were called on Saturday to put an end to a house party with around 30 revellers in Monte da Caparica, Almada (a āhigh-riskā municipality), south of Lisbon.
Revellers ignored government advice to stay at home and the owner of the property, a 40-year-old woman, was identified, according to a statement released on Sunday by the GNR.
Officers received reports of a large private gathering and were forced to break up the party and order people to go home.Ā
Portugal is currently under a state of emergency, with measures in place to fight the spread of COVID-19. The government has imposed night-time weekday curfews and lunchtime weekend lockdowns across 191 āhigh riskā municipalities: people are being urged to stay at home between 11pm and 5am from Monday to Friday, and between 1pm and 5am on Saturday and Sunday.Ā
On Saturday, Portugal reported 6,602 new COVID-19 infections and 55 deaths. Portugal has seen 3,305 deaths and 211,266 infections due to COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic.
