September was a busy month for Algarve hotels, which saw 91.1% of their rooms booked thanks to a boost in the number of Portuguese (+12.2%) and French (+26.7%) holidaymakers in the region.
Data from the Algarve hoteliers’ association (AHETA) shows that bookings increased 2.9% compared to the same month last year, as well as business volume (+1.1%).
The bad news is that there were fewer Dutch (-21%), Irish (-6.8%) and British (-3.9%) tourists staying in the Algarve.
On the bright side, this September was the busiest at Algarve hotels since 2000 when 91.6% of the region’s rooms were booked.
