A Portuguese/ Brazilian national, sought by Interpol, for being ‘on the run’ from a seven year 10 month jail term for international cocaine trafficking has finally been run to ground in the State of São Paulo. Luís Almeida, 60, had been evading his condemnation since 2016. He now faces extradition back to Portugal to serve his jail time. A well-worn phrase within Portuguese police is that they do catch up with criminals eventually, “however long it takes”.
