Former Portuguese international footballer Luís Figo has hinted today at the possibility of running for the presidency of the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF). On the sidelines of the signing of a protocol between the Luís Figo Foundation and a higher education institution in Almada (near Lisbon), the former Portuguese winger admitted that he has been “thinking about it (…) It’s a subject that I’m not going to say I’m not thinking about, but it’s logical that if I feel I have the necessary support to win, it’s more justified than if I don’t feel that support. It’s open, but there’s nothing at the moment that I can say is real,” he said. The FPF’s current president Fernando Gomes has been in office since 2011 and is currently serving his third and final term, which ends at the end of this year.
