Preparations begin for Loulé’s ‘Carnaval’

Loulé is already hard at work preparing for the 2024 edition of its ‘Carnaval’ festivities, which will take place between February 11-13 along Avenida José da Costa Mealha.

The Municipal Council has announced that it is already accepting applications from local clubs, associations and organisations that are interested in participating in the ‘Carnaval’ parades that the town is famous for. Registrations are open until December 29 and can be completed online.

Last year’s ‘Carnaval’ in Loulé was hailed as one of the best ever, having attracted around 80,000 people. It was themed after the Algarvensis Geopark, which brings together Loulé, Silves and Albufeira and is aspiring to join the official network of UNESCO Geoparks. Fourteen floats, nine entertainment groups, three samba schools and more than 600 people took part in the festivities.
