President Marcelo congratulates Turkey’s Erdogan on re-election

Portugal’s president Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa has congratulated Turkey’s Recep Tayyip Erdogan on his victory in the second round of the presidential election, which took place yesterday. Appearing in a one paragraph note on his official site was the message: “The President of the Republic congratulated the President of Turkey, Recep T. Erdogan, on his re-election for a new term at the head of the destiny of Turkey, our ally in the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation.” Erdogan’s victory secures him another five years at the helm, after the last 20 in which he has been president of Turkey.
