President tells striking teachers: negotiations “will go well”; patience needed

Patience (in Portuguese paciência) is summoned for all kinds of situations in daily life, and today President Marcelo has said it is needed for ongoing negotiations between the government and striking teachers. Today sees a new round of talks between the two factions; tomorrow another ‘mass demonstration’ called for central Lisbon, to which syndicates and federations expect 100,000 minimum. Attending a cheese fair today, President Marcelo said he believes negotiations “will go well” and that everyone involved needs ‘paciência’.
