ERC, Portugal’s press regulator, has opened an official proceeding into the use of social media, by right wing party CHEGA, to share manipulated information using images broadcast by television station SIC Notícias. The worst of this situation is that it actually saw CHEGA’s leader André Ventura accuse the country’s press of being “enemies of the people” when they pointed out that the video had been dubbed misleadingly.
