In a new ‘scandal’ involving alleged abuse within the Catholic Church, António Júlio – the priest of the village of Numão, in Vila Nova de Foz Coa – has been arrested and held overnight in police custody on suspicion of “crimes of people trafficking and sexual abuse of a person incapable of resistance”. He is due to be presented before magistrates this morning.
