Private care for your health

HAVING JUST celebrated its 12th year, private hospital, Hospital Particular do Algarve (HPALG), in Alvor is expanding its range of facilities and procedures to benefit patients in the region.

“The hospital is always looking to improve its services and increase the number of procedures that it can offer to its patients, so that they do not have to leave the region or travel abroad for treatment,” said Marilia Cabrita, a spokeswoman for HPALG.

HPALG is opening a new hospital in Portimão this month called São Camilo (see The Resident, July 25) and is also working on a project to open a private hospital in Faro.

“In Alvor, we have a range of new facilities including state of the art equipment in the urology department which enables patients to benefit from a variety of tests on their kidneys and urinary passages,” said Marilia. “We also have a variety of other new machines in other departments around the hospital including a bone density scanner.”

Maximum comfort

The hospital in Alvor has two floors with a total of 49 beds distributed in private and semi-private rooms. There is also a Special Care Unit with ventilation and full monitoring facilities.

According to Marilia Cabrita, all rooms are fully equipped with medicinal gases, private bathroom, air conditioning, telephone and cable television, for maximum comfort during a patients stay at the hospital.

“Among our other services, which include operating theatres and a maternity department with a fully equipped delivery room, we will also soon have a dental implant specialist working with us,” said Marilia Cabrita.
