Professional firefighters have given the government until the end of the month to respond to their labour demands, which were the subject of an angry demonstration last week. The general council of the National Association of Professional Firefighters (ANBP) and the National Union of Professional Firefighters (SNBP) met today. They approved a list of demands and asked the government for a response by October 31. Speaking to Lusa, Fernando Curto, president of the ANBP, said that the list included “demands for a revision of the professional statute, indexation of the salary scale for firefighters to the national minimum wage and the correction of the current salary scale for firefighters by a further €52”. A new demo t the National Association of Portuguese Municipalities (ANMP), has also been scheduled for November 4 in Coimbra.
