PSD Algarve wants to see Faro airport chaos resolved

Social democrats call for a “definitive solution” to Faro airport chaos

PSD Algarve has applauded the announcement of “urgent measures” to tackle the long and chaotic queues at Lisbon and Faro airports, saying that it wants to see the situation resolved once and for all.

The regional delegation of Portugal’s Social Democratic Party (PSD) says that it hopes these measures will bring a “definitive solution to the chaos that has prevailed at the border control of Faro Airport in the last years,” which it says has had “serious consequences” on airport operations.

PSD Algarve decided to share its point of view on the government’s new immigration plan, having backed the measures announced – chief among them the abolishment of Portugal’s ‘manifestation of interest’ regime.

While recognising that Portugal’s uncontrolled immigration needed to be addressed, PSD Algarve also warns that the measures “must be implemented cautiously” as the region continues to need foreign labour.

“It is fundamental to create good conditions to welcome and quickly integrate all those who come here to work,” the regional delegation says.
