Quarteira celebrates World Fado Day

On November 29, singers Beatriz Pereira and Sara Gonçalves will perform a tribute to the traditional Portuguese musical genre.

World Fado Day has been celebrated on November 27 since 2011, when it was added to the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List. This Friday, it will be marked in Quarteira with a special concert in the Municipal Centre’s Auditorium.

Starting at 21h00 on November 29, the event will feature performances by fado singers Beatriz Pereira and Sara Gonçalves, accompanied by Nuno Martins on the fado guitar and Gonçalo Rosa on the Portuguese guitar.

The concert is free of charge and promises to be a tribute to traditional Portuguese art.

The initiative is organised by the Parish Council of Quarteira with the support of the Municipality of Loulé.
