Quick tips to improve your chipping

• Here is a checklist of little tips to improve your chipping.

• Think of a chip as a putt with a different club.

• Select the spot where you wish to land the ball and then choose the appropriate club.

• The typical roll out on a flat green medium paced green.

Wedge 1:1

9 iron 1:2

8 iron 1:3

7 iron 1:4

• Feet close together.

• Weight towards the left foot (for a right-hander).

• Hold the club a little down the grip for more control.

• Aim the clubface to the target (May not be at the hole for a breaking chip).

• Left arm and club form a straight line with the club butt leaning forwards.

• Small swing, allowing the shoulders to do the work.

• Strike the ball first with a slight descending blow.

• Maintain the left arm and club in a straight line.
