It happened just before 6pm on Monday, 12 kilometres west-northwest of Alcoutim, but according to IPMA, the Portuguese institute of sea and atmosphere, no one felt it and there was no damage. The 3.1 magnitude quake (Richter scale) is the latest of numerous recent ‘mini-quakes’ that have stretched from the Gulf of Cadiz up to the Alentejo.
