Quinta do Lago showcases job opportunities at Open Day event

The resort is one of the Algarve’s largest employers

Quinta do Lago resort held an Open Day event on January 26, showcasing the wide range of job opportunities it has to offer and why it is considered by many to be an “extraordinary place to work”.

Whether someone is about to complete their studies, searching for their first job or an internship or considering a career change, Quinta do Lago has an opening for people coming from all kinds of professional backgrounds.

Quinta do Lago is currently providing permanent and seasonal employment and internships to almost 800 staff members, making it one of the region’s largest employers.

Ana Cardeira, Director of Human Resources at Quinta do Lago, has pinpointed the reasons why so many have hailed Quinta do Lago as “a place they love to work at”.

Our employees are our most important asset,” Ana Cardeira says, explaining that all new employees are given a “comprehensive introduction” to their job duties, alongside continuous job training. In fact, online training is due to be introduced at the resort in February, she adds.

Flexible working practices are available with four-day working weeks for jobs that require workers to work “unsociable hours”. Ensuring a “good work-life balance is important to us and our employees,” the resort’s human resources boss adds.

Another incentive is that new job offers are announced internally first, with existing employees being given priority over external candidates.

Mário Vitória, Golf Operation Manager for Quinta do Lago’s North/South and Laranjal courses, stands out as an example of an employee who has steadily climbed the company’s ranks. He joined Quinta do Lago in November 2000 as a 16-year-old intern from the Alentejo who had never set foot in the Algarve.

After six months, he received a contract to work at the resort’s buggy park, eventually becoming a golf course ranger in 2002 and a golf receptionist in 2004. By 2007, Mário had become the chief receptionist, and, two years later, he was promoted to his current position of Golf Operation Manager, taking control of Laranjal, Quinta do Lago North and South courses, together with the resort’s prestigious academy. Further responsibilities include organising the many tournaments held at Quinta do Lago, including Quinta do Lago Pro-Am.

Having recently celebrated its 50th anniversary, Quinta do Lago is also happy to have had an employee recently celebrate over 40 years of working for the company, “proving that the resort values its people”.
