Yesterday’s ‘freak’ weather conditions over most parts of the country saw intense rain in some areas, accompanied by thunderstorms/ hailstones and wind. The Alentejan village of Brinches, in the borough of Serpa, suffered 143 mm of water per sq metre fall in just one hour, causing a torrent of muddy water to flood roads and streets. Nearby Pias saw similar floods which caused damages in some cases to parked cars.
