I’ve worked in the hotel business for over 40 years – practically my whole life – and for the last three have spent six months sitting at home as the hotel I work for closes for the winter.
In all my life in tourism, never before have I seen so many hotels closing down in the Algarve. And yet the government continues to toot its own horn, going on about how 2014 was a “record-breaking year” for tourism?
Maybe the statistics show improvements, but the social reality of the situation is much graver than what the government is letting on…
