Remco Evenepoel (Soudal Quick-Step) won today the Tour of the Algarve bicycle race for the third time, repeating his 2020 and 2022 wins, after finishing second at the top of Malhão in Loulé, behind his predecessor Daniel Martínez (BORA-hansgrohe).
Belgian Remco Evenepoel held on to the lead, achieved in Saturday’s time trial, with second place in the fifth and final stage, which started in Faro, achieving the same time as the winner, Colombian Daniel Martínez, who was defending the title he won in 2023.
The 24-year-old Belgian finished the race 43 seconds ahead of Martínez, equaling the feat of Portuguese Belmiro Silva, who won the 1977, 1981 and 1984 editions.
