Renowned pianist returns to Algarve for two concerts

Piers Lane, the renowned London-based Australian pianist, is returning to the Algarve for two concerts, on September 29 and October 1, at Os Agostos country estate near Santa Bárbara de Nexe.

In the first performance, Piers will play pieces by Mozart, Beethoven and Chopin and in the second a varied programme by Scarlatti, Bach, Brahms, Schubert, Chopin and Schulz-Evler.

Piers is in great demand both as a soloist and collaborative artist. Recent highlights include Busoni’s mighty piano concerto at the Carnegie Hall and the premier of Carl Vine’s second Piano Concerto written for him with the Sydney Symphony.

Piers is a five-times soloist at the Proms in London. His concerto repertoire exceeds 95 works and has led to engagements with many of the world’s great orchestras and conductors.

Piers has a discography of over 50 CDs, his most recent being a Chandos release of Schubert chamber music with his regular recital partner violinist Tasmin Little, OBE. Piers is artistic director of the Australian Festival of Chamber Music. In the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Honours he was made an Officer in the Order of Australia for services to music.
