A FREELANCE reporter, working for Spanish newspaper El Mundo, insisted earlier this week that he had information about the abduction of Madeleine McCann.
Antonio Toscano has already been questioned by Polícia Judiciária chief-inspector Olegário de Sousa over the phone, who passed the information to the head investigators in Madeleine’s case.
The freelance reporter told a Portuguese newspaper that he knows the identity of the kidnapper, but that he will only give the details to police investigators and the McCanns in Portugal. Toscano said he has been following this clue for the last four weeks and believes this will take him to Madeleine.
Toscano’s suspect is a convicted paedophile, who was last seen in Seville a few days before the English girl disappeared from Praia da Luz on May 3. Since that day, he was not seen again in the European paedophilia circuits, the reporter said.
The Spanish reporter also said Madeleine is now “a very hot product” and that the kidnapper is going to wait before he makes any move. “He is waiting for further instructions and he is calm because all the leads are pointing in a different direction,” said Toscano to a Portuguese newspaper on Monday (June 11).
Antonio Toscano is convinced about the results of his investigation. From the 15 kidnapping cases he has investigated during his career, “in 14 of them, the victims were found alive,” he told the newspaper.
