A MAN in a wheelchair has been taken on a high-speed ride after being caught on the front bumper of a lorry without the driver realising.
The man was crossing the road where a truck stopped at a red traffic light. As the light turned green, the lorry driver had failed to see the wheelchair and pushed him down the road at speeds up to 50mph.Passing drivers called the emergency services but it was not until two policemen saw what was happening that the truck was stopped. The man in the wheelchair was unharmed as he had been strapped into the chair, but was taken to a hospital as a precaution.
