Starting tomorrow (May 5), Rota do Petisco returns to the gastronomic scene of Lagos, Aljezur and Vila do Bispo.
A total of 75 eateries in the three towns are taking part, each presenting their own mouth-watering petisco (tapas) accompanied by a drink for âŹ3. Desserts and sweets will also be served at some establishments for âŹ2.
This is the seventh year of the event for which people buy a âpassportâ for âŹ1 (proceeds going to charities) which acts as the guide to all venues, and their menus.
As organisers Teia DâImpulsos explain, the Rota âhas become a hallmark gastronomic event in these last few years and showing it is able to generate very significant economic impactâ.
Last year a total of 250 eateries in six boroughs took part, selling an impressive âŹ700,000-worth of menus.
The success of the event has been so strong that Teia dâImpulsos claims it has helped revive the Portuguese tradition of âpetiscosâ â impromptu snacks with family and friends.
The event will remain in the âTerras do Infanteâ (Lagos, Aljezur and Vila do Bispo) until June 11.
Starting June 2, it will also be held for the first time in Faro and OlhĂŁo.
