This marks the fifth consecutive year that the organisation has awarded the scholarship to the University of the Algarve “for students with significant academic potential”.
The Rotary Club Lagoa has once again demonstrated its commitment to education and academic development by contributing the “Excellence Scholarship” to the University of Algarve.
This marks the fifth consecutive year that the association has undertaken this solidarity initiative, aimed at supporting students with considerable academic potential by providing them with a unique opportunity to advance in their studies and thrive in the educational environment.
“Rotary offers the Excellence Scholarship each year to support students with outstanding performance and to assist them in realising their dreams and professional ambitions”, says Rotary Club Lagoa, adding, “This initiative reflects Rotary’s commitment to promoting education and its mission to make a positive impact on the local community while fostering the development of future leaders.”
This year, the scholarship was awarded to Ana Beatriz Castro, who is studying Basic Education at the Faro campus. The ceremony, held on February 6 in Gambelas, was attended by Vice President Franco Pasotto, Nicole Lanier, and Jean Claude Dheilly, who represented the Rotary Club.
“The presence of the Rotary delegation at the ceremony symbolises the organisation’s commitment to education and academic development in the region, reinforcing its role as a key partner in promoting knowledge and excellence”, says the organisation.
In addition, the Rotary Foundation, one of the branches of Rotary, also awards scholarships for the study of economically disadvantaged students with good academic performance, residents in Portugal.
This gesture seeks to ensure that a lack of financial resources does not hinder students’ academic and professional success, enabling the most talented and dedicated individuals to achieve their educational and career goals.
This partnership between Rotary and the University of Algarve exemplifies how collaboration among institutions and organisations can yield tangible societal benefits. By supporting the education of talented young individuals, Rotary is directly contributing to the growth and reinforcement of the academic community while investing in Portugal’s future.
“The scholarship represents a valuable opportunity for students, offering them not only financial support but also a network of contacts that can be crucial for their professional careers,” states the organisation.
