Rotary market raises €3,880 for food bank

The Christmas Market at Lagoa’s Galeria Arte Algarve on November 22-23 raised a total of €3,880 to help the Portimão Food Bank with its equipment needs, said organisers the Rotary E-Club Porches International, who are delighted with the event’s success.
The many stallholders, selling all sorts of unique Christmas gifts, created a magic festive atmosphere, attracting more than 2,000 visitors to the historic winery grounds, where the gallery is located.
Eva María Rambusch of São Marcos da Serra was the winner of the ‘How Many Corks?’ competition with a guess of 7,324 corks (actual number was 7,242). She won a voucher for a stay at Herdade dos Grous estate in the Alentejo.
Organisers thanked hosts Galeria Arte Algarve and their staff “who worked tirelessly” during the market weekend and Vila Vita Parc for its Biergarten sausages and beer.
Plans are already in place for next year’s Christmas market.
