Porto Court of Appeal has ordered Ryanair to pay holiday and Christmas bonuses to cabin crew, according to a statement from the union to its members. According to the letter from the National Union of Civil Aviation Flight Personnel (SNPVAC), “the Court of Appeal peremptorily affirms that Ryanair’s practice of dividing the same annual amount by 14 months instead of 12 is a legal fiction, which only aimed to avoid paying the 13th and 14th month to the workers”. According to the union, the Irish airline was also ordered to pay unpaid periods during unpaid leave. SNPVAC believes the airline will appeal the decision to the Supreme Court of Justice but considers it “a giant step forward in recognising the rights” of workers.
