S.T.O.P – arguably the most militant union involved in the ongoing teachers’ strikes – is now appealing for a national strike to show the government “it should stop prioritising the thousands of millions of euros for banks and ruinous private-public partnerships”. S.T.O.P has already put itself on something of a collision course with the more traditional unions, powered by FENPROF (teachers federation), insisting that it is given a formal invitation, published over social media, to the next ‘mass demonstration’ scheduled for next Saturday (February 11) in Lisbon.
