SAMPLES TAKEN from Gerry and Kate McCann’s hire car and another car rented by one of their friends have been sent to the UK for DNA analysis, according to Portuguese daily newspaper Correio da Manhã.
It is not clear whether the trace evidence that was found was blood or another bodily fluid like sweat or saliva and none of the results have been made public.
The paper also reports that the trace that was detected by an English sniffer dog in the McCanns’ holiday apartment was not visible to the naked eye and was on the floor.
Allegedly, tiles in the apartment had to be removed in order to collect the evidence. It is believed to be blood but this has not been confirmed by the Judicial Police.
A spokesperson told The Resident today (Friday): “We cannot comment on the ongoing investigation.” He refused to discuss reports of more evidence being analysed.
Meanwhile, newspapers in Spain have reported that police are investigating a possible sighting of Madeleine in the country.
Two women allegedly saw a little girl fitting Madeleine’s description at a petrol station near Tentegorra accompanied by a man, who pushed the girl into a Citroen ZX when he noticed that the women were watching.
Portimão Judicial Police declined to comment about this possible sighting and the efforts being used to track this vehicle.
