Sand Racing takes over Monte Gordo Beach in November

One of the main stages of the FIM Sand Racing World Cup returns between November 22 and 24.

The Monte Gordo Sand Race, one of the main stages of the FIM Sand Racing World Cup, returns to Praia de Monte Gordo between November 22 and 24.

The activities commence on November 22 with technical checks and a motorcycle display for the public at Praça Marquês de Pombal in Vila Real de Santo António (VRSA), where spectators can interact with the bikes and their pilots.

Before the race begins on November 23, a parade of vehicles will travel through the city streets to reach the race location.

The event will be divided into two rounds, the first on Saturday, November 23, and the second on Sunday, November 24. The final classification will be determined by the sum of the times of the two laps.

The race brings together motorcycle and quad bike riders from all over the world who will compete in the penultimate race of this competition. The last one will take place in Hossegor-Capbreton, France, at the end of November.

The Portuguese event is one of the founding competitions of the FIM Sand Racing World Cup, alongside classics such as Enduropale du Touquet (France), Enduro del Verano (Argentina) and Bibione Sand Storm (Italy).

One of the key novelties this year is the track’s lengthening to 6 kilometres, as reported by the city hall. This will enhance driver safety and offer improved visibility for the large crowd anticipated.

The Monte Gordo Sand Race is organised by the Automóvel Club de Portugal (ACP) in collaboration with the municipality of Vila Real de Santo António under the auspices of the International Motorcycling Federation (FIM) and the Portuguese Motorcycling Federation (FMP).

All those interested in participating can register for the competition until November 8.
