Santa Bárbara Animal Help (SBAH) was founded eight years ago when Susan and Evelyne rescued and rehomed eight abandoned dogs and six cats. This incredible effort sparked a lifelong mission to help animals in need. Today, SBAH is run by Susan Martin with the support of dedicated volunteers, local vets, sponsors, and generous donors.
How you can help
Volunteers play a crucial role by walking and socializing the dogs, taking them to cafes and shops, or simply sitting with new rescues to help them build trust again. We also work closely with other rescuers and shelters to ensure every animal finds the care they deserve.
Meet some of our rescues
- Mossie (8 months) – A gentle giant who loves to play but has a calm personality. Great with cats and dogs. Ready for adoption!
- Zebedee (2.5 years) – A smart, medium-sized dog who loves learning tricks. Super sweet and great with other dogs. Ready for adoption!
- Monchique (5 months) – A playful puppy with lots of love to give. One of two siblings still waiting for a forever home.
Support our fundraisers
- Charity Golf Day – Sunday, April 13, 2025, at Ombria Golf, Loulé. €140 per person, including a buggy. First tee time: 09:10.
- Curry Night – Sunday, April 13, 2025, at Mahalo Restaurant, Santa Bárbara de Nexe. €35 per person.
