Part of the Algarve Walking Season, the event’s first edition takes place on February 7, 8 and 9.
The Junta de Freguesia de Santa Bárbara de Nexe is launching a walking festival on February 7, 8 and 9. Inspired by the parish’s stunning landscapes and vibrant local culture in the heart of the Algarve Barrocal, the new festival is part of the Algarve Walking Season programme, which promotes the Algarve as a year-round walking destination.
The festival’s organisation explains that its image reflects the territory’s rich cultural heritage and the vibrant colours of the land that has always provided sustenance for the men and women who settled here and established families hundreds of years ago.
Many of the memories and skills of these settlements are still very much alive in this territory. This festival was created in honour of this tangible and intangible heritage.
