Sapper firefighters have decided to give the government until December 20, to come up with a proposal to update salaries and introduce a ‘decent’ risk supplement. If by that date, negotiations have moved no further along, Fernando Curto, president of the national association, has warned there will be a “natural revolt”, with all that that implies (industrial action being high on the list). “The government knows sapper firefighters are right in the proposals presented”, he stressed, after the PM vowed his executive would not make any decisions on the basis of coercion.
