Scrapped parishes could return by 2021

Parish councils that were either scrapped or merged with others in 2013, as part of an administrative reorganisation of the territory, may return if they meet new criteria that the government will try to pass in parliament soon.

The goal is to come up with a new ‘map of parishes’ before 2021’s local elections. Local politicians will have an opportunity to suggest the return of parish councils if they feel that they were wrongly scrapped.
