Searches resume for Nepalese man swept out to sea near Torres Vedras

Searches have resumed today for a 25-year-old Nepalese man last seen waving for help from the water off Santa Rita beach in Torres Vedras. The alert was raised yesterday afternoon by a local person who saw the man gesticulating in the water, clearly in difficulty. According to early reports, he had gone to ‘wet his feet’, before being swept out by a wave. As authorities keep impressing on people, the sea is not yet ‘in summertime mode’. Strong waves and currents persist, while lifeguard cover is not yet in force.
