A second anti-immigration protest has been scheduled to take place in Porto tomorrow, according to reports in the media. Organised by the party “Ergue-te!” (Get up!), it has chosen Campo 24 de Agosto, the area where three attacks on immigrants happened only a week ago. A quick consultation of Ergue-te’s Facebook page, however explains the protest slightly differently: it is “an action to make people aware not to commit crimes, but also an action against racism against Portuguese”, says one of the party’s leading figures, a former magistrate (dismissed during the pandemic) Rui de Fonseca e Castro.
