Second Portuguese family desperate for confirmation of body found in suitcase

Isabel Lima, 42, last seen camping with ‘foreign pilgrim’ in Vigo

A second Portuguese family is waiting desperately for further forensic information on the body of a woman, discovered badly decomposed and trussed-up in a suitcase, on scrub ground in Vigo, Spanish Galicia.

Isabel Lima, from Corroios, Seixal (Lisbon outskirts) was last seen campaigning in Vigo (more specifically Vila Praia de Âncora), with a ‘foreign pilgrim’ apparently on his way to Santiago de Compostela.

Correio da Manhã tabloid, which has minutely covered the disappearance last October of missing pregnant mother of two Mónica Silva, has carried this latest story today having spoken with Tânia’s sister Isabel, who is described as “promising today to put herself on the road in seek of answers”.

According to Tânia, the characteristics of the body in Vigo are “very similar to those of her sister” (much more similar, for instance, to those of missing Mónica, who was altogether a larger frame than the one described by police in Galicia). Equally, the timeline doesn’t fit with Mónica’s disappearance. It fits better with the disappearance of Isabel, reported missing by her family in September. (Locals have admitted to having seen the abandoned suitcase since long before October, when Mónica Silva went missing…)

For now, nothing is certain. Forensic tests are ongoing to try and reconstruct the body’s finger prints, says CM, while information from Isabel’s sister reveals she had tattoos on her chest and arm. If signs of tattoos in these areas are found, it will add to the possibility of the body being that of Isabel Lima, the mother of one teenage daughter, who is the last person she appears to have spoken to.

CM adds that Isabel Lima is bipolar, suffering from a syndrome dubbed “borderline”. Her sister has told the paper that Isabel “stopped taking her medication” – at which point before she disappeared, however, is not made clear.
