The new secretary-general of Portugal’s Intelligence System (SIRP), Vítor Sereno, said today that the current “secret services” model “is robust and adequate” but called for more human, technological and infrastructural resources. Sereno was speaking after being sworn into office by prime minister Luís Montenegro at the official residence in São Bento (Lisbon), at the same ceremony in which Patrícia Barão was also sworn in as secretary-general of the Internal Security System (SSI).
