THIS WEEKEND sees the first major tests for two of Portugal’s biggest clubs with the seventh edition of the prestigious Guadiana Tournament in Vila Real de Santo António.
The three-way contest held over an equal number of days – Friday, Saturday and Sunday – brings together Sporting Lisbon, winners in 2005 and 2006, Benfica and Betis Seville. The participation of the Spanish sides gives added spice to the event as it now features the recently signed Portugal and former Sporting keeper Ricardo. Matches kick off at 9.15pm and tickets are priced between 30 and 50 euros. The SIC TV channel will be in attendance to cater for armchair fans.
