A Moldavian national held up a restaurant near the train station of Pinhal Novo (Setubal) in a shoot out Sunday morning, barricading himself inside and taking the staff and clients hostage. Armed with a gun he detonated explosive devices injuring 6 people and in a shoot out with police at around 5am this morning was shot dead after taking the life of one of the police officers. A police dog was also killed in the incident.
It is reported that the Moldovan national, who remains unnamed, had demanded 50,000 euros from the restaurant’s owner to pay for medical treatments.
